Dear Chess King

Dear Chess King,

All my life I've been your pawn,

Now I'm saying, "This can't go on."

Your reckless haste

Breeds undue waste

Our lives our tossed away,

The price of winning is ours to pay,

You say it's for 'the greater good-'

Don't we matter? I think we should.

Countless pieces now are lost

Your crown is safe - but at what cost?
