Dear Corey John (In Heaven)
Dear Corey John,
We almost made it to adulthood and then... senseless violence took away what could have been.
A young athlete with so much talent and potential, his personality impressed on his peers, so influential.
Sixteen we both were when you passed, but one more day with you to joke and laugh is all i could ask.
I don't think I have ever prayed so ambitiously ever in my life, but when you are sixteen, how else can you deal with the pain and strife? I prayed to God that I would be able to see you healthy again but then i got the news. If only, if only, if only, i could have 2012 back to spend more time with you. If only, if only I could rewind all the years, If only I knew. For the years to come, i will wear the bandanna and dream catcher in painful nostalgia. Nevertheless, making an eminent effort to see you again in heaven.
Love,
Little Cousin Imani
