Dear Crayon Boxes Everywhere // Travis Gauvin

“Dear Crayon Boxes everywhere;”

I'm terribly sorry I continue

To store away your colors

Just that little bit

Less than perfect.

But you should know,

Even though red, orange and yellow

Blend together so damn well

Sometimes the blues get between.

And if I'm not so serene, and green

Or happier than ever before,

It shouldn't feel bad to say

Some browns, frowns and dark grays

Jumped in the way of you and me

And all 32 fuckin ways to imagine the sea.

See here, I'm aware of the primaries

And it's scary to see halloween colors

Come in pairs when it's not the season.

But crayon boxes,

What you fail to realize

Is not everything happens

For a reason,

And goddammit just once I want to feel

Surprised by an outcome.
