Dear dad

Dear dad,

Do you care?

You just left the house, leaving mom screaming, without an explanation.

How is that fair?

Couldn't we have just had a conversation?

Were you just trying to hurt her?

Well, by hurting her you hurt us too.

While you two were screaming, us kids had to whisper

Because we didn't know what to do.

I held and sang to your scared children

To try and cancel out your yelling.

But I didn't know what to say to them 

When you walked out the door with mom crying.

While you were out there driving

To where only God knows where you went.

Everyone was crying.

I hope that wasn't your intent.

All I could think about since that night was whether you cared or not.

Do you care, dad?
