dear dad

dear dad

what happened to us?

i remember when i was young

you used to play with me

we would play house

i would dress you up

i would fake sleep in the car

just so you could hold me

and carry me up the stairs

i rmemeber waking up on sunday mornings

smelling the crazy breakfast you would make up

the saturday morning cartoons

all of this is gone

playing catch in the backyard

now you try to catch me as i run away

i remember what we used to be

we used to be so close

now your closing the door

taking me away and

opening another one

the other life you were living

the one away from us

your family

your life

you want a new one?

keep me out of it

i am angry

i don't show it

i keep it inside

locked away

my emotions bottled up

we used to laugh

talk about anything

now its awkward

we sit quietly

in opposite corners

staring and waiting for something

the ice to break

melting the pain away

but its too cold now
