Dear Dad

I never understood why you left me

Why you left behind something you called precious

I’m not a broken toy

I’m not trash

Am I

I felt so heartbroken

Should I have spoken

So I could let out the pain that you left me

Because what you did hurt me can’t you see

I just wanted you to listen for once

A child at 1

3

5

Whatever age

Should never be left by their parent

The person that is expected to swadell you in love

Drown you in kisses

And hug you to death

Most parents do

But did they mean it

Dear father

Did you mean it

Because leaving me feels the opposite

Dear Dad

I hope you know that I forgive you even though you left me
