Dear Dad, the calm before the storm
dear dad,
the calm before the storm
you're too slow you're too weak
thankyou for pushing me to my highest peak
faster, faster you will never succeed
with that speed no school will have you checked as guaranteed
come on swing through it
not to it
all i ever heard was you're better than that
punished me so bad it was like military combat
thankyou for pushing me to the best i could be
thankyou for noticing the little things no one else could see
i kept my grades up for one simple reason
to go to college and play during baseball season
you helped me become stronger and smarter
you helped me grow and become a starter
all though i was always in pain
you helped me understand the game better with my brain
one two three strikes im out
everyone thought i was some sort of washed up drought
and just like that it hit them me doing good
with one little stick of wood
thankyou dad for guiding me in the right direction
and showing me my own reflection
wish i would've thanked you everyday when i could
thankyou for showing me that i was actually good
you proved to me that i wasn't the best with my form but i did prove that was just the calm before the storm
Love your son,
cody
