Dear Daddy,
Do you see the tears running down my face?
Don't you ever wonder why I'm in this daze?
Has it ever occurred to you that this may be your fault?
What did you expect when you made my world come to a hault?
Did you think I would simply forget?
Do you think that I should regret?
Regret loving him because you told me to?
Do you think that you can tear us apart?
Well I won't let you.
This isn't you trying to care.
This isn't even your cross to bare.
This is my life you're trying to run.
This isn't over; you haven't won.
All you've done is ruin a bond that's supposed to last forever.
Even though you're my father, it is him that I still treasure.
This isn't right, this doesn't fit
But I have to make this work; my life depends on it.
That's the part that you don't see.
You don't see how happy he makes me.
You think you know, but you have no clue.
No clue that this will end with an 'I do'
Will you be there to walk me down the isle?
Is it worth it? To see your daughter smile?
This place you call home is more like a hell.
Does this remind you of anything? Does it ring a bell?
Once is just bad luck but twice turns to you.
Is it something you've done? Do you even have a clue?
Do you know what it feels like to have everything stolen from you?
Or do you just not care? Please tell me this isn't true.
Please don't make me call it hate.
By the time you see what you've done it will be too late.
Too late to say I'm sorry; too late to do your part.
The damage will be done; yes, there will be a scar.
The worst part is forcing me to smile like nothing's wrong.
I can't do this; not for long.
I'm trying to make you see.
See what you have done to me.
You think you know what's best
But you don't feel the crushing in my chest.
Smile, none of this is your fault
But have you ever even stopped and truly thought?
Thought about all the tears from my eyes
All coming from your selfish lies
Lies of how you see the world
Lies of what you want from your little girl.
It's impossible to turn back now
But this will turn out good, no doubt.
Good for me and good for you too;
Good once you see how much your baby grew.
Grew into a woman that you would want me to be.
You'll see once I am finally free;
Free to love who I want
Free to love him past your ill thoughts.
Ill thoughts from the hypocrites.
Trying to tear us apart bit by bit.
Give me one good reason why I should say no.
Say no to something that you don't even know.
You don't know who he is; You don't know who we are.
All you see is me, when I'm behind these bars.
This isn't jail you say?
Then why does it seem this way?
Why do I long to escape day by day?
Why do I feel a fatal need to run away?
Please don't make me keep crying.
If you could only see; See that I'm dying.
Dying to see him, dying to simply let go.
Let go of all these feelings I'm not supposed to have of you.
Let go of all this pain. What can I do?
I can't say good bye to you; I won't say good bye to him.
Can we make this work before my heart begins to dim?
Dim, simply give up, I can't take much more.
My heart falls with these tears as each hits the floor.h
Please Daddy, make this work.
I want both of you; Take away this hurt.
