Dear Darkness,

Mother let you in-

you weren't always evil

but then you changed-

she couldn't see it

but I could

You began your Hunt-

Your quest for Control and Dominance

You wanted to Break me:

in Mind,

in Spirit,

and in Body

but I fought back

finding Refuge in my Books-

and my Imagination

the One thing you could never Take from me

You may have Stolen many things from me

but you have never taken the Vastness of my Mind-

that is Uncontrollable

it is what set me Free-

from your Chains

that sought to Bind me

You may have managed to Hunt me:

to make me Fearful-

inside my own house

but I could always escape into my Mind-

to a world you could never Touch-

Does that Enrage you? That you could never Control me?

I hope it does.

Sincerely,

a Shining Light
