Dear Death

Dear Death,

This is not collateral beauty.

In fact, I do not wish to meet you because I have already learn to much about you.

You take lives from this earth and change the lives you’ve left behind.

For that I hate you but I also admire you.

Your bravery to do what most can not.

You save those who are suffering.

But I try hard to forgive you for taking lives without their permission.

You simply embody them without knocking on the door first. You march right in not caring

what’s going to happen after that person takes their last breath.

Sometimes you slowly over power the body like stepping into boiling hot water almost like your reluctant.

If the persons lucky you’ll step right out and come back some other time.

For those who watch people die and trying to hold on to what's left you let them get a glance at you.

It’s almost like you leave a souvenir in the person's heart after you take someone dear to them.

Like a peace offering or your way of saying “I’m sorry for your loss”.

Little does that person know that the gift is only a blessing and curse!

At night that gift opens up and you slither out.

You invite yourself under the covers of the bed and into our hearts.

Caressing the hearts that you broke and stimulating a rain shower of tears to fall down those pitiful cheeks of ours.

Creating a memory of those we loved in our brains or dreams that turn into nightmares,

but for that one moment I love you.

Sometimes, you give me something happy to remember or something to appreciate.

Something to hold onto until it’s over and your gone.
