Dear Death
Dear Death,
I write this letter knowing I receive no answer. This is because since you are death of course. You don’t answer to anyone. However I find your line of work (if you could even call it that) very intriguing. Every single person in this world meets you eventually. No matter who we are, what our beliefs are, our strengths and weakness, and every other component of our lives we inevitably will met you. Just as we all meet life. However life meets us before we are even people really. We just simply exist and we have a foundation. Life meets us when we have all our potential and when we are faced with hundreds of paths that we can take throughout the course of our life. You however, death, meets us at the end of the path we choose. You meet us when our foundation has something built on top of it. You meet us after we have lived. You meet us at times when we have learned all we know and when after we have made the shift from existing to living. You meet us when we have all our regrets and all the things we don’t regret. You meet us when we are carrying our memories. Depending on the person, we carry happy or sad memories. But I guess I am just curious if you ever feel lonely death? One would think someone or something who meets every single person who ever lived could never be lonely but I imagine you to be. Can you feel death? Can you feel happy when you meet someone who has lived a full life? Do you feel sad for someone who didn’t get to live as much as they wanted? Do you feel anger when you meet bad people? Or do you feel nothing at all? After a while I would suppose we all start looking the same once we meet you death. Faces must blend together and individuals mold into one. I do not know whether or not you can feel death but I know I can. I feel bad for you death. People tend to blame you and hate you. They see you as someone who takes their loved ones away. They hate that you one day will take them away too. But don’t think you take us away death. I just think you’re the one who meets us when our time comes to an end. I like to think when I come to the end of my path you will be there. But I won’t be scared of you. I will be ready to greet you and you will be ready to greet me. Well I do not know when we will meet I would hope not for a while though. But when we do meet death I hope you can answer some of my questions.
Yours Truly,
A friend
