Dear Depression

Dear Depression,

My constant companion,

My constant enemy.

No one else can see you,

Unless you possess my body too.

You’re like a demon.

A pentagram etched into my brain.

I try to exorcise you

With the pills I swallow every evening,

But you hold on anyway.

Some days you’re a light rain,

And on others you’re a tsunami.

But thank you,

Depression,

For showing me who my friends are.

For showing me how strong I can be.

For teaching me to fight.

See you soon,
Brooke
