Dear Depression

Dear depression,

Do you remember my face?

You’ve manifested inside of me

Driven me to my lowest points

Invaded my life and my soul

Enabled me to hurt the ones I love

Ultimately turned me into the one I hate the most.

Perhaps our reunion rings a bell,

Do you recall the angry screaming matches?

Do any of the tears you made me shed sound familiar?

Or how about the lack of motivation you gave me?

Oh, and the total hatred of life too?

Our times together made me want to die.

I’m glad I left your iron grips

Making an effort to take you out of my life

I took myself out of the place where I let you thrive

And surrounded myself with people

Who distract me from you

I’m learning to let go of the entity that once consumed me

I’m still working at trying to forget you

And it’s pretty hard at times

You’ve become ingrained in my being

But I’ve learned to cut you off

And while I may not have forgiven you yet

I will eventually forget about you

Much Love,

Daniela
