Dear Depression
Dear Depression,
You've hurt all my friends
You've stolen their youth
And You've totured their souls.
Dear Depression,
I've watched You starve them
of food and affection
and convince them they have not my love.
So began,
Dear Depression,
the story of
Your grip on me.
Dear Depression,
You isolated and hurt me,
You always assured me
There was no good reason to live.
You deprived me of food,
Then stuffed me with sugar
"But that's not attractive"
so to the bathroom I ran.
There You met me again
I couldn't escape You.
You laughed through the mirror,
Sadistically using my gaze.
"Get out!" I screamed
Out of my head,
Out of my skin,
Out of my life.
There was nothing left
There was no one to love me
They mocked me as You do,
Dear Depression,
You forced them all down my throat.
You hoped it was enough.
You sent me to bed.
You pulled me into the dark...
"Yes they do."
I don't know the voice
But it rang in my ears
And made me fight again.
"I love you"
Was my note just in case
You were too strong.
Because that night I saw the truth.
Dear Depression,
I see what You've done
You made us Your slaves
But we're waking up.
Dear Depression,
don't You know
when You isolate so many,
You just create an army?
Dear Depression,
We got tired of You.
We want our lives back.
How dare You pursue those we love?
Dear Depression,
We are the rebellion
With battle scars and bones,
We all have our stories.
Dear Depresion,
We're fighting back,
Pulling away from the black,
The only thing we'll purge here is You.
Dear Depression,
You brought this on yourself.
We will break every last bond
Until all of Your slaves are set
Free.
