Dear Depression...

Dear Depression,

We have come to be

Old Friends.

You know my mind, you know my heart,

You have heard my desperate cries

In the night

You've seen the tremble of my lips.

My mind is filled with the racing noise of

My thoughts

That never seem to silence.

You have read me like the

Ripped, battered, and worn

Book that I have become

You've seen me lose

My sanity,

And my identity.

I wander the streets, calling my own name that

I don't seem to recognize anymore.

But this has gone on for far too long.

It is my turn now to control

My life,

I am here to laugh and I am here to love,

I am here to earn what

Is mine.

This body is not yours,

I am

My own Guardian Angel and I've come to

Set

Things right no longer will I be your Prometheus,

Chained to your rock.

You will soon quiver at the sound of my name!

And I, for once, will be

Free.

Goodbye,

Rachel G.
