Dear Doctor

Dear Doctor,

I’m asking you for a favor,

Because right now I’m tired of how I feel.

You know I’ve tried to be braver,

But it’s like my body doesn’t know how to heal.

I’ve felt like this for a while now,

At first I thought I just wanted an answer.

But now I can’t stop asking “how,"

I feel like some type of cancer.

You know all I want is normalcy,

Can I ask for that?

Believe me I’ve spent enough time in emergency,

I know what it feels like to be a lab rat.

I’m not asking for much,

Just a cure.

Because right now it hurts to the touch,

Even though it’s obscure.

It’s beginning to affect me worse mentally,

So sorry if I pry.

It feels like I’m going in circles endlessly,

Except now I can’t hold in my cry.

You know I’ve fought hard,

Each and every time.

But now I feel like I should be left in a junkyard,

It’s getting too hard to make the climb.

Think long and hard before denying my dream,

Get me out of this nightmare.

Take some time and consult a team,

It’s for a good cause I swear.

Sincerely,

Payton
