Dear Dorothy

She died before I was even born

On her life God sounded his horn

When I watch her movie it brings me to tears

I have been a Dorothy Dandridge fan for years

She is the epitome of strong

Can we please sing Dorothy's song?

and bring together a nation so divided

by hating hate and letting love guide us

In letting her song spread like a virus

We will be united

Hope heaven invited

you to it's doors and everyone was excited

I hope that someday we will get to meet

And I'll tell you all about how you inspired me

by keeping your head held high despite the violence

and using your words to break the silence

if it wasn't for you there would be one less black girl with their head held high

I guess it is no secret that she is I
