Dear Dreams

Dear Dreams,

I yearn for legs

restless and strong

            and for one night

without the moon

crooning through my window

pane ajar and welcoming

My cat tightropes up my legs

revving her internal engine

kneading claws into skin

her pastel-colored fur

soft as Easter eggs on Sundy morning

cupped by small hands

of searching children

Please, Dreams

wait for me

as I feed my kitty kibble

and ease into new sleep
