Dear Earth

Dear Earth, why do you cry,

Your sun still burns bright up in the sky,

we tear down your trees but we build up much higher,

up towards the skies nearly touching all our lost brothers.

Why are you angry that we all keep living this way?

after all you’re responsible for our creation and all this dismay,

frustrated with our industrialization,

tired of the bloodshed fertilizing all of your nations

we are putting you in a state of damnation,

but you must understand your mutation is overshadowed by our elation.

Is taking care of you really our obligation?

All we want is to live at ease,

And it seems like fixing you wouldn’t be such a breeze.

You need to apprehend,

Most of your demands are just simply unmanned,

Dear Earth, I know why you cry,

denying this truth would be nothing short of a lie.

We take all we want despite what we need,

We drill in your limbs and leave burns all on your skin,

caging your creations while we live in immunity.

I know why you cry and create a thunderous affray,

you’re secretly begging us to stop living this way.
