Dear Education

Dear Education, You lied to me. You told me if I was just smart enough If I could just score higher, If I could just be better I could do anything. I could follow my dreams. I believed your lies. I devoted my life to you. I spent countless hours Learning and studying. I thought I had done it. I scored in the 99% on the SAT. I got a 4.0 I was a genius That's what they told me. But it wasn't enough, was it? Not smart enough still? "Sorry, but you just missed the cut off For this scholarship. If only you answered one more question correctly. Sorry, but your family makes too much money To get enough FAFSA." Even though they can't give me a dime. The words echo in my ears, As I stand her now with my cap and gown. Just be smart enough. Well apparently I wasn't Even though I gave it my all. Now I can't even go to the college of my dreams I can't afford it. It isn't be smart enough. It's be lucky enough. And I wasn't lucky enough. But I don't need you. I'll find another way to be happy.
