Dear Emotions

Dear Emotions

I can no longer trust you

You are a precarious foundation

Refusing to be tamed

Always wanting; always taunting me

You long for what you cannot have with no regard for reality

You cloud judgement, light quiet fires of desire

Insatiable, hungry and unrelenting

Leave me be

Leave me be

I'm better with out you

Dear Emotions

Ignoring you has led to numbness

to addiction and despair

In your absence I feel like I've fallen into a bottomless pit

Smothered and buried but never quite gone

I'm robbed of sleep

I feel no pain; I feel no joy

There is emptiness where sensation should be

Dear Emotions

I call a truce

You are not to be controlled

Abused, smothered, pushed away or manipulated

You are not my guide nor my tormentor

Happiness is fleeting, a fragile as a soap bubble, sadness as heavy as a lead jacket

I bear them both

Feeling anything at all is terrifying

I hold you with open hands, you're free to come and go

The truth is you've scared me all along

I'm done running, hiding and fighting

I surrender

P.S. Thanks for coming back

Sincerly Bethany Joy Kletka
