dear evelyn,

there’s moments i needed my sister

my best friend.

an hour and a half left it up in the air.

practically a teen mom             it’s not fair, i am greedy

adult life is in a year.

cobalt colored house

just a few blocks down

windows covered in plastic

your porch is gone.

narcissistic parent expects everything and nothing.

black hightops looked wrong

so did the lamp.

if we only had each other

would it be so awful?

dreamt of living one mile apart

instead of thirty.

dreamt of spring, 2023

instead of now.

stood in front of him

            someone who always spoke

choked us with silence.

i wish to return

to daisies in fresh grass

your tiny hair clips

your baby pictures

                      did you have to go?

the sky sobbed

and i still watch your old home.

dear evelyn,

you still live in my heart.
