Dear Ex

Dear Ex,

It has been months since we parted

I never said the goodbye I needed to

How we ended left me broken hearted

All I want to ask is how could you

I gave it my all

Never once did I stray

Why did I ever have to fall

What you’ve done is the ultimate betray

I trusted you with all of me

Just to be let down

How do I heal, when you won’t let me be

Avoiding you in our small little town

The bumps and bruising have faded away

Physical pain is not what remains

It’s the scars on my heart that are here to stay

Terror and fear have me wrapped up in chains

You stole something from me that day

I will never get the chance to be the same

The world feels different and mostly gray

My life was ruined by your sick and twisted game

Freedom, security, or my carefree spirit

You only got slap on the wrist from the law

I’m sorry? Hell no I can’t even hear it

The wounds physical and emotional are still far too raw
