Dear Ex-Best Friend

Dear Ex-Best Friend,

Thank you for the laughs,

and the memories.

Sometimes I look back at our photographs,

And I remember how your mom owned one the town's bakeries.

It was freshman year when you wouldn't look at me

when I would pass by your locker.

It made me feel crappy.

You weren't much of a talker.

I remember the early mornings,

and late nights, full of tears and hugs.

You always gave me warnings,

"Stay away from the boys who break hearts and do drugs."

Little did I know it wouldn't be one of them to break me,

it was you.
