Dear Ex-Lover
Dear Ex-Lover
There were many things I never understood
And there are many things I never will
And my heart will forever struggle with this
And I cannot wait until
You leave
Why did you hurt me so much and so often
And expect me to act like nothing had happened
You treated me like I was some kind of rag doll
And threw me around until my spirit dampened
Ever since we met
But why does my heart cling to you after this
What good will it ever do for me
I see your smile in the hallways
And I have to pretend that I didn't see
The spark in your eyes
A part of me will always love you
That I don't think will ever change
But another part of me will always hate you
For you caused my soul so much pain
It lingers there yet
So for now I will continue to smile
And pretend that everything is alright
But as for the spirit you damaged
I will finally let it see the light
Finally, I rise
