Dear Family

Dear Family,

I am still searching for a place to call home

Because broken hearts

And empty promises are not it

Always torn between

Two voices

Two masks

Two houses

And when I unintentionally say home

The other house begins to roar

It sets itself in flames

Begging me to walk in before the roof collapses

Wanting to engulf me in its flames

Oh, but there is something so tragically beautiful

About the flare

About the flicker of emotions

Hidden in dark places

I have tried searching for my home

And I thought I found it within him

But how could I be so naive

As to think he could withstand the heat that I so desperately brought upon him

Because that is what I knew to be love

So I am on a constant journey

To find my home within myself

Free of trapped doors and unbearable heat

But when I do

I am never letting go.
