Dear Father

Dear Father,

Only known you 6 months, but it feels like forever

I wish I had known sooner, my life would be better.

August 23, I learned of you

17 years after birth, you came out the blue.

My mom tried to explain, the gist of things

But am I angry or happy, my feelings I can’t explain.

The guy I’ve known as daddy, never taught me much

Except how to run from challenges, never a soothing touch.

But it’s all ok now, sense learning the truth

He wasn’t meant to stand out, God was sending me you.

I also applaud my mom, I know this had to be rough

Yet she faced it with strength and courage, she really is tough

I love my Mom, and she has done her very best

But every girl needs a Father, to handle the stress.

The stress life brings, the stress of this world

But this load has become lighter, since learning I am your girl.

The day we met, OMG I was scared

But the hug you delivered, was unconditional love we shared.

Both hurt and confused, and even a little shy

But having you and mom, I know I can reach the sky.

The first time I met my family, your family our family

Again, I was scared, but everyone seemed so lovely.

I spent the first weekend, with my biological father

Nothing can match the love that a Dad gives his daughter.

It seems we missed a lifetime, yet still a lifetime to go

I will love you forever, and that you must always know

Love

Trinity
