Dear "Father",
Dear "Father",
As you yelled and threw at the woman who raised me
Things that should never be yelled or thown at a woman
I told myself I wouldn't
Ever make the same mistakes
That made my own mother's heart break.
One, being that if they didn't make me feel special
To find someone that would hit on that level.
Two, to find a man who would never cheat
With a random from the corner of a street.
Three, being that if they ever made me feeel lower than the ground
That the only way
Is to say
See you around.
And if a man ever hurt me the way she was
I would leave
Because I would know that would only be the eve.
Although I would normally spit at your name
Right now you aren't in blame.
I thank you
For showing the drunken bastard.
Because now I have mastered
Spotting a man for what he may be
And to make sure not one
Will ever hurt me.
Sincerly,
The daughter you didn't deserve.
