Dear Fear

Dear Fear,

You're always standing next to me
the face I see in the mirror
in the eyes of everyone I meet

I see you.

You make a point of holding me
captive both night and day
in quiet echos of my dreams

I hear you.

You're locking my heart away
never to find the key
in the haunted chambers of my soul

I feel you.

You've made yourself a home
unwelcome on the tip of my tongue
in the forgotten words I'll never say

I breathe you.

Now time is up
you've had your way
but the hour is mine

I'm not afriad.

Sincerely,
M.L.
