Dear Fear

You cover me with your shadows

Cast me away into the night

Night after night

With the needs to appease you please you

I don't need you and need to let you go.

Your ever growing shadow won’t let me grow

You’ve painted pictures of the beauty and vulnerability I could be

And you could see what I could be if I were to let them show.

You see, you’ve tricked me

Told me I couldn't be free from your ever growing hold

Made a mockery of my life depicted it as a joke

Wanted me to be afraid of my heart and soul.

Thought you could change me, raise me, and replace me

Thought that I would fold, that you could break me

Take me apart and rearrange me

But like the sun I rise day after day

Eager to spread my wings and fly away.

I’m taking control of my life and running free and fast like I’m in a race

The goal isn't to come in first place, just to escape

Won’t let fear rule or win because I'm controlling my pace

I'm in control taking a stand moving swift with grace.

Won't let your shadow take hold of me again

No matter what you will never win

We’re in a cat and mouse game and I'm ready to feast

I'm ready, stronger, and in control just call me the beast.
