Dear Fears of Life

Dear Fears of Life,

Who are you to tell me what tomorrow will be like

when you're to busy worrying about today.

Who are you to define my future

when all you do is stress about the past.

Who are you to leave me heartbroken

when you know nothing of heart break.

Who are you to keep me from the light of day

when all you do is shadow me with pain and sorrow and dread.

Well no longer will I be afraid of my own shadow

when I have my life to live.

No longer will I be afraid to drown in the deep dark water

when I know I can stand in the shallow depths.

No longer will I lose my balance at such great towering heights

when I know I can spread my wings and soar.

No longer will I lose my way in the dark

when I know I can make my own path.

No longer will I cower from interaction

when I know we are all the same.

But it's okay to fear a little, cause a little fear is good.

Just don't consume my every moment and take all my attention away.

I can't try to be fearless

when I know that my fears make me who I am.

Sincerely,

Me, myself and I
