Dear Future

Dear Future,

Where did all of our promises go?

The beautiful days of pride and glory

that would await me when I met you.

Why is it you've only left me worry?

The days we used to spend dreaming,

of all the accomplishments we would achieve

in this beautiful world of promised purpose;

why has it left me to bleed and grieve?

You were so bright whenever I would call for you,

a world full of peace and love.

Now a world surrounded by darkness

that engulfs all of those left behind by the Gods above.

Have you forsaken me?

Was this nothing more than a game?

Married to a lie with a devil's smile

wasn't how I imagined your promised fame.

After so much betrayal and unfilled promises

you have taken away my greatest ambition.

But if what you say is true this time,

Future, I will look forward to this new addition.

Always,

Your ever faithful servant
