Dear The Future,

Dear The Future,

There are days where I think about you plenty of times. I wonder what you have in stored for me and what will soon come to pass. Although you slowly approche me everyday, I feel like you are running at full speed. One moment I will be in my forties only having memories of my teen years. To explain the truth to you, I am scared of growing up and to move forward in life. I am scared of losing loved ones and forgetting the most precious moments in my life. Even though I already know what I want to become, I am afraid of being on my own or not meeting the one. I am only just a teenage girl who has learned numerous of knowledge from a small city with big dreams that go beyond a television screen. There is not a day that goes by where I look at my family of eight and think that one day my brother and sisters will all have families of their own, and separate lives where we will only see each other on holidays and birthdays. Days where I look at my parent and consider that one day their lives would become marks in our memories and hearts. As every one of us flourishes, will we drift apart or stick together as glue? There are days where we bicker, chuckle, and weep. Days that I would never change for one moment because they are more than just memories or moments, they are my soul and mean more to me than anyone could ever know or feel. I look into the mirror and stare upon myself and reflect on who is staring back at me. A nerd, a runner, a noiseless whisper, an ear spitter, an overachiever, and a caregiver. It turns out that I am all of them and without a doubt thrive on the thoughts of the present, past, and future. Henceforth, I will be waiting for you and even though you may terrify me, I will not back down at the obstacles you throw. They may be difficult to get through, but not impossible.

Forever yours waiting,

Kimberly Guadalupe Chavez
