Dear Future Me

Dear future me,

how am I?

Did I graduate college,

did I get my degree?

Did I travel the world,

and see every sight to see?

Am I successful,

what is my vocation?

Do I get to be an art teacher

no matter the location?

Do you still talk with the family,

do you know how they are?

Do you still visit,

even if you live out far?

Do I still sing,

do I still perform?

Do I sing in the community,

or have I taken the world by storm?

Do I still act,

have I been in a movie or play?

Am I in a small theater,

or selling out Broadway?

Have I met the love of my life,

did I meet him in another country?

What does he do,

accounting, a lawyer, or maybe does he sing?

Have we gotten married,

had a quaint ceremony in the Fall?

Did we honeymoon to Disneyland,

did my tastes change at all?

Do I have children,

ones to love and to hold?

Ones that I nurture,

until we grow old.

Most importantly,

future me.

Am I happy?

Do I live my life,

doing the things I love?

Do I spend my days,

surrounded by those I love?

Dear future me,

I pray we lead a life,

that both of us will never regret.
