Dear Future Me

Dear Future Me,

-awkward silence-

I want to start with off with

a nice, big hug for you.

I hope you’re happy right now,

that you’ve reached some of your biggest goals,

that you are confident in your identity.

Right now, as I’m writing this,

I’m excited and terrified

Life just seems too big for me

And every point I cross in success or failure

Leaves my heart hurting or too full

Time is too quick to pass

I don’t seem to understand this now

Aching for senior year to just get here already

But, I hope that you’ve learned that life is a ship

And, the ocean is too big for it

And that you’ve leapt over the side

To experience every opportunity

I hope that living isn’t a chore

But something that sets your heart aflame

And leaves you full of light

So much so that you wonder

Why you hadn’t discovered it before

I pray that you’re stronger,

That pain leaves no more scars

That love is the biggest part of your life

That hope grows with every breathe in and out

You will make great things happen

And change will be your greatest achievement

To change the world

To make things better

To give others the opportunities you’ve been blessed with

Here is lots of love for you

In a time when maybe things might be too hard

Here is a hand for you to hold

When you have no-one else

Here is some advice: live today to the fullest

Love,

16 year old potato you ♥
