Dear Future Me

Dear Future Me,

Who are you?

God, I wish I knew.

If I knew who you are now,

I’d know what to do right now.

Just tell me your secrets.

If you aren’t happy,

Tell me now.

Maybe I can save us both.

Just one decision

And you would be different.

One choice and it’s all over,

Or would it all begin?

What do you want?

You’re older.

You’re wiser.

You’re smarter.

You have the hindsight I don’t.

So if you were me, what would you do?

Would you make the same choice?

Are you happy where you are?

Do you want something different?

Speak now or forever hold your peace

Because I’m on the edge.

Soon I’ll make a decision.

Will it be the right one?

Will it make you happy?

Or will it erase all you have done?

If I knew who you are,

What you feel,

If you love your life or not,

I would know what to do.

The decision would be made.

But then it would not be a decision.

Only I can make my decision.

You can’t speak for me,

Because you made your decision.

And it’s time for me to make mine.

Maybe I’ll make the one you did.

Who’s to say if it’s right or wrong.

There will always be another choice.

If it’s wrong,

I’ll fix it.

I’ll make it right.

It’s my life.

It’s my choice.

And I WILL make the right one.
