Dear Future Me

Dear future me,

I hope you take hold of every opportunity,

And blossom in your maturity.

I hope you remember your roots,

The Ghanaian tree from which you are a fruit.

Never forget your past struggles

From which you were given resilience.

An honest child in a lying world,

From which you gained experience.

Remember as a young immigrant,

You were thought to be ignorant.

But the words your father preached, “put your trust in your education,”

Held true throughout the years, and provided you with a foundation.

I hope you find your passion, and build yourself a mansion,

Made with peace, love, success, and everything of that fashion.

I hope you see everything, people, places, and things,

Because your eyes have always searched for newness on which to binge.

Give back to your family, and help your country grow,

Because my dear girl, never forget, from their valley you flow.
