Dear Future Me

Dear Future Me, one day you'll see as time keeps passing on

That youthful dreams more arduous seem, with each new break of dawn.

The goals once pictured within reach when passion first began

Grow distant as the world attempts to unravel these plans.

Antagonists arise and try to impede what’s begun;

The pessimists will emphasize just why it can’t be done.

The complications of this life will populate the path,

Each obstacle, each barrier more daunting than the last

But when you face these hurdles know they can be overcome;

With courage, strength and fortitude each battle can be won.

Remain sincere and honorably pursue what you aspire;

And trust that time brings wisdom to achieve what you desire.

Do not be burdened by the doubt or troubles you may face,

But meet each challenge with the sword of your persistent faith.

Take heart and see each setback as a lesson to be learned,

And when you reach your dream you’ll know that joy was truly earned.

     Sincerely,

                           Present Me
