DEAR FUTURE SELF
Dear future self, where do I start
Wait!!..Let me just stitch together these pieces of a torn heart
Ok now find yourself a chair or better yet, sit legs crossed on that worn mat
It already speaks a thousand words, now let me add what I've got
Listen to the music beyond the music
It's either you use it or you abuse it
It's either you keep it or you lose it
But it will definitely hit you like a cupid
"One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain", that's Bob Marley
Muster the art and essense of patience or should I say sabali
An apology is a five letter word, Sorry
Say it more often or define your own folly
Don't Focus on achievements but fulfilment and satisfaction
Make sure your words are holding hands with your actions
Give love for free with no strings or expectations
Everyone is prone to err so kill all suspicions
Always say what you feel or write it down in a poem
Never catch feelings, they'll eat you up especially when they solemn
Learn a language or two but one should be foreign
New cartoons suck, go back to the days of Bob Morane
Feed your vocabulary, read a lot of books
The most learned people are a little scruffy, don't be deceived by the looks
Know people who are genuine then know who are crooks
Life is a game of chess, never aim for a fluke
Have more face to face conversations and less on social media
Give more and more even as the world gets greedier
Hustle for what want, it never comes easier
Learn to crack jokes, make yourself a comedian
Watch what you feed on, both your stomach and mind
There's no greater revenge to one who hurts you than being kind
Be happy with little things, happiness is never mined
Watch crime, detective and suspense movies and don't forget to hit rewind
Trust is an asset, never trade it for anything
Always do things that will leave you reminiscing
Call or text all the people you are missing
Talk less and do a lot of listening
Be a helping hand especially to those in need
Never mock failure in case you succeed
Never follow blindly and never be desperate to lead
Never break a promise, always fulfill what you agreed
Love hurts but I guarantee you, the pain will be worth it
You will never know something unless you research it
Embrace and do what you love, you'll never regret it
Lose valueless friends, remember what happened to the Kwacha when they debased it
Don't drink to forget problems they'll be back when you are sober
Don't put your trust in money, you'll despair when it's over
There's no life so meagre, there's no life so nobler
So you are vital to society whether you are a banker or a cobbler
Swallow your pride and never feed your ego
Even if you've heard a joke before, go ahead and giggle
Stand for what is right, what is illegal is illegal
Don't be "Mr know-it-all", don't play smart like Steven Segal
Put family before friends but God must come first
Keep a clean conscience otherwise you won't rest
Always say 'please' lest you hunger or you thirst
Home will always be home even birds return to their nests
Sometimes close your eyes and use your ears to see
Everything has a price, free is never free
Always remember, an Apple don't fall far from a tree
This is not a poem, just some advice to the younger me
