Dear God
Dear God,
Hi. I sit and wonder how purpose filled this essay is, considering that you know everything. I am writing this anyway though because you deserve this, plus my life which I have always been meaning to live out diligently in honor of you. For the sake of clarity, and because I know that you won’t be the only person reading this I’ll start with a fun fact. I have always been like you, this essay is inspired by you. This letter is a replica of the story you have never stopped narrating called my life. The same way that you have never ceased to make time to listen I will allow my readers the opportunity to listen and understand exactly how you know I feel everyday. This is written in a first person’s point of view. I remember being undone, sad, lonely, and crying. sometimes confused, happy sad, but always intrigued by the work of your hands. You were never changing because you understood me then, tucked me in during long nights, and made sure I slept tight. You are all knowing because you knew from the start just like you know this essay from beginning to end but here I am still, writing it that this small moment in time would be mimicked by many others. Moments that were so dark I could only be seen by the person who calls himself light. These moments with you continue as I write this poem. I feel like my visions blurred by seemingly cataclyptic negative events that I never saw coming but here you are pushing me forward, nudging me on and out into the open with sweet opportunities like this one. If the purpose of the mentee is to become like the mentor than you have done well, considering that your first sentence involved me being made in your image. I see you now like you have always seen me. I hear you now because you have never stopped listening to me, and I thank you now because without these events shaping me, changing me, molding me, and teaching me, I wouldn’t be here. Dear God, you are unchanging, and all knowing, you mean everything to me.
