Dear Grandma
Dear grandma, How are you doing?
I know I been slacking off but my grades is improving,
Im getting tutored now, and Im not making excuses,
But this math class goes so fast it’s completely confusing,
You probably gone roll in your grave when I tell you this but the Lakers been losing,
And im not really sure about the major I’m choosing,
But before I forget to tell you, I made it to college,
Even though my peers try criticize and admonish,
I can see riches in my future like im a prophet for profit
Life is getting hard, Im keeping it honest,
Cuz now I got more worries than Sega Dreamcast and DC Comics,
Im out here worried bout 2012 doomsdays and high speed comets,
Police forces and CIA surveillance on my Facebook comments,
Im spitting rhymes every Tuesday at the radio station,
Trying to teach the masses but the people complacent,
But anyway, I wish I could kiss you and hug you,
I miss you and P.S. I Love You
Dear grandma, How are you feeling?
I cut my hand today, but the scabs already healing,
You would be so disappointed if you saw the drugs I was dealing,
Especially since you always told me I was one in a million,
Im hurt and I feel like a disgrace,
Cuz I never accomplish anything and im always in fifth place,
And I have an overwhelming fear for earthquakes,
I don’t have a job and everything I do is inadequate,
And I try and keep it together and stay adamant,
But everything always comes down on me like an avalanche,
I have no contact with my mother so I love her from a distance,
And I struggle everyday with God as my witness,
Since you been gone my name found its way to some gangs hitlist,
And out here all they care about is red blood and green money like Christmas,
So im blue like my pregnant girlfriend’s litmus,
At this point I just ask you and God for forgiveness,
Cuz I been too focused on being a Crip than Christian,
Dear grandma,
Things are starting to change,
I am moving toward the future and my scars have numbed my pain,
I finally graduated and made it to a university,
And escaped the chains that were hurting me,
Me and my enemies truced I’ve removed the noose,
And im on a wild chase but not for a goose,
Im blessed, hand on the wheel driving toward success,
With an S on my chest and a burning desire to one day be the best of the best,
Im scratching haters off my fortune like the paint on a lottery ticket,
And I quicken to cool down when it get hot in the kitchen,
Cuz im on a quest, something like a mission,
Im an independent menace representing the sinning on the road to repentance,
Smashing records like guneis,
And I aint quitting till im finished.
Dear grandma, I love you and miss you,
I would keep crying about your passing but I ran out tissue,
I just got a job so moneys not as much of an issue,
So now I can blast toward success like a missile,
I got a girlfriend and I wish you could meet her,
Maybe when we get to the other side you can see her,
All my uncles and aunts have vanished to thin air,
Im paying tuition myself and my mom really don’t care,
It’s a constant battle but I know that im winning,
And im grinning cuz all my haters got sour faces like lemons,
Im going to make you proud and get an education,
And the reason I continue is because youre my motivation,
Im going to get a degree in Political Science,
And free the minds of our people as act of defiance,
Losing is not option, im in it to win,
And I love you grandma, we will meet again
