Dear Grandma

Dear Grandma

Looking at the stars tonight,

I know you are near.

Thinking of you makes my face so bright,

There is nothing more to fear.

For pain demands to be felt,

And tears are meant to flow.

We make the best of the cards dealt,

You’re missed very much you know.

Don’t worry about the letters right now,

I’m a poet in your shoes.

I’ll give it my best anyhow,

Not knowing how it will amuse.

Will it travel down the street?

Twisting like a snake.

Or will it be delayed by sleet,

I hope not for my sake.

Life passes way too fast,

So enjoy the little things.

Those memories will surely last,

Just like diamond rings.

Noah is the star on the fields,

Look there! He just made a play.

Picked him right up off his heels,

I wish I could watch him today.

I look across the beautiful college,

Thinking about the promise to thee.

I’ll become a man with great knowledge,

I know you will be proud of me.
