Dear Grandma,
Dear Grandma,
The last time I saw you, you were laying in bed
The sheets up and over your head,
The monitor beeping,
The children sleeping,
And the parents all sitting next to you,
The parents not wanting us to worry about you.
I was worried, I was scared,
I didn't want to leave.
I wasn't sleeping. I was tired and afraid.
Grandma I miss you dearly, I wish the monitor hadn't flashed red,
I wish the sound hadn't gone flat,
I wish they hadn't moved you from your home to that place.
I miss you Grandma, I'm glad you're not in pain,
Away from the world and its groaning.
I love you, I miss you, I wish you were here again,
Your granddaughter
