Dear Hair

Dear Hair,

I didn't mind you until field day when the boys laughed and stared

I brushed it off until summer when someone yelled"Back hair!"

I covered up what I could, until I grew chin hair.

tweezed, waxed, yanked, shaved , but then came chest hair.

All of this in a society where female skin should be bare

This molded my fragile mind and chose the clothes that I would wear.

All of this made vacation less fun

All this gave me heatstrokes in the sun.

Long sleeves sweat my confidence out.

How could a man fall in love with a hairy beast like me?

This hair outgrew my femininity.

This hair portrayed me as masculinity.

All because a first grade boy didn't  find my legs appealing.

I suffered with anxiety and suicidal feelings.

But I was fearfully and wonderfully made, if someone didn't tell me that I might not be here today.
