Dear Hands

Dear Hands,

I just wanted to say I’m proud of you two.
You always build things up, help, and create, its true

Knitting scarves and crocheting hats for friends,
It’s easy to see why you’re considered helping hands.

Tutoring kids with their Spanish, writing stories, poems, and more,
Opportunity has always seemed to be an open door

Most importantly, though, is your love of music.

The way you fly across the ivories in a piano tune,
Or keep playing your trombone ‘til way past noon,

You strum the day away on guitar
And picked up the trumpet, though you didn’t get very far.

Hands, you, as well as my heart know what we want to do.
We want to share music beyond just me and you two.

To spread music and joy through the art of teaching would be a blessing.
How we’re going to get there I bet you’re guessing.

Well, determination, ambition, and, hard work have gotten us this far.
With some hard-earned money and four years at university
We’ll keep reaching for our dream like a star.

I’m excited for what’s to come, you see,
To find out what the future holds for both of you and me.

Much love,
Ari Carlson
