Dear Harry Potter,
You inspired my sense of adventure-taking me on riveting rides across the night sky, down secret passageways and inside rooms that disappear, up staircases that move without a pattern, past picture frames that speak, move and cry. With you I learned to come face-to-face with fear-to look it in the eyes, to seek after it, to find and destroy it before it destroys you first. You taught me to be brave even when I’m afraid, to throw punches when necessary and take chances because it is those small moments that often save you. Because of you I know to jump on a dragon’s back and let it carry me across the waters rather than cower in fear from the fire it breathes. The fear of getting burned keeps you locked away, but leaping on it’s back will set you free. You taught me depression is sudden and dresses in black, and it takes reflections of colorful moments to push back the darkness. You taught me to never fight that darkness alone. It is you who taught me to cling to friendship-to grip it tightly because companions are how we endure, how we enjoy, how we live. Because of you I befriend outcasts. I stand up for what’s right.I choose to be humble. I cling to innocence. Because of you I am never alone. Thank you. Thank you for giving me adventure. Thank you for sharing wisdom. Most of all, thank you for your company, for it is your comapany that has made all the difference.
