Dear Heart

Dear Heart,

Are you hurt?

Will you ever shatter

into a million sparkling pieces of glace rouge?

Please tell me you never will.

You’re smarter than that are you not?

Protect yourself from falling prey to the creatures

who would trample you until nothing remained.

Are you empty?

When the betrayals shoot daggers into your beating pulse will you stop?

Can you feel anything when the sun sets?

Please tell me you will never become cold and unfeeling.

The scars are healed, leave them be. No one will rip them open again.

Never tie metal bands around yourself like Iron Henry.

You’re stronger than that.

Are you full?

Does love and joy overflow from within?

Will it heal the wounds that time has wrought?

Please tell me you’re fully recovered

from the hurts, the pains of the past that would be better left buried

Your strengths lie in yourself. Faith, trust, love.

You are already strong.

Love,

Yourself
