Dear Heart:

I don't want to hear

What you have to say.

If he enters the room,

Don't make me stay

And stand

Alone

By the wall;

Unnoticed--

When he won't even look

My way.

Stop sending thoughts

That warm my cheeks.

You don't have to melt

Each time that he speaks:

So witty,

Soothing,

Caring;

And yet--

The same for all

He meets.

I don't need false hopes

Of having romance.

For though I send love

With every glance,

His polite

Response

Is but

A smile--

Proving once more

I don't have a chance.
