Dear Hip Hop

Dear Hip Hop,

What happened to the days were you actually had swagger?

What happened to the days were hip hop mattered?

The legacy left by legends turned into a dying fire

Dear Hip Hop,

You taught me how to speak the truth even

If some people think its bad manners

Dear Hip Hop,

You taught me how to walk;

You said I should always have swag

Dear Hip Hop,

You taught me how to dress,

You said I should always let my clothes hang.

Dear Hip Hop,

You taught me more than school itself

You showed me life isn’t ‘Eazy’

Dear Hip Hop,

You taught me how to write and rhyme

Dear Hip Hop,

Our youth has been infected

Dear Hip Hop,

Please tell me why girls who are thirteen are acting twenty two.

All these fools care about is a good beat that they can vibe with

So they can get high with

YOU made them turn the youth into melodramatic fools

Consumed with the idea that money, cars and hot chicks are the only thing that matter

People are suffocated and blinded by your true nature

Dear Hip Hop,

It is like you have forgotten about the kids with a story

Can’t you see that life is not how it use to be
