Dear, Hunter
Dear, Hunter
Why must you follow so close and condescendingly,
Your mere presence cuts like a knife and sends shivers down my spine,
But you have always been there,
And have never gotten close enough for me to see,
Though I have always felt you,
And have lived,
Waiting for the day you strike,
Waiting
Waiting for the pain to stop,
I can pretend you’re not around,
And you will leave briefly,
And confidence replaces thee,
And vanishes faster than arrived,
For I live in constant fear
Of you
And your slippery ways,
You are unseen,
You are unheard,
You are unfelt: But you are not unknown,
You wake me at night and hold me hostage,
For I lay awake until morning,
Afraid to close my eyes and stop looking for you,
Waiting for you,
Insanity is to repeat and expect different results,
This defines us both,
For repetition is fear,
And fear keeps me safe
From you,
Fear keeps me awake,
Alert,
And alive,
Constantly searching,
For you,
You know this,
But don’t want to be found,
And continue your ways of stealth,
And awful pain,
For I cannot hide,
Cannot run,
And cannot be released from you,
You are a part of me,
Without you I am not complete,
For you are insecurity,
You are my every bad decision,
My every regret,
I cannot do anything but lay here,
Pleading to nothing for protection,
Protection from you,
Lay here knowing you will never leave me,
For you make me who I am,
And I cannot be released.
